YouTuber Jake Paul’s Calabasas home raided by SWAT in FBI investigation

A controversial YouTube star has had his palatial mansion raided, with agents seizing guns after a mid-pandemic party at the residence.

A SWAT team has raided YouTube brat Jake Paul’s mansion in a Californian enclave beloved by celebrities like the Kardashians and Drake, after he courted controversy by continuing to throw lavish parties despite the pandemic decimating his country.

Early Wednesday morning the Federal Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant at the 23-year-old online provocateur’s Calabasas mansion, with agents being pictured removing what appear to be weapons from the home.

Paul was not at home at the time and no arrests have been made.

“We are still gathering information and will co-operate with the investigation,” Paul’s lawyer Richard Schonfeld told TMZ.

The raid comes two months after Paul was charged over an incident at a shopping centre in Scottsdale, Arizona.

It’s yet to be confirmed but it looks like the raid is in relation to that.

The warrant that authorised the raid is under seal and the FBI is yet to detail the investigation.

Another residence in Las Vegas, Nevada believed to belong to Paul’s friend Arman Izadi was also reportedly raided.

In May, while tens of thousands took to the streets to protest the police involved deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and many others, as well as wider systemic racism across the United States, Paul and his cronies were inside Scottsdale Fashion Square, where he later said in a statement that “neither [he] nor anyone in our group was engaged in any looting or vandalism”.

“We spent the day doing our part to peacefully protest one of the most horrific injustices our country has ever seen,” he said in a statement on Twitter.

He said he and the group were tear gassed and had been filming the chaos “strictly documenting, not engaging”.

A videographer who travels with Paul to document his antics reportedly filmed him handling a bottle of stolen vodka, according to the New York Times.

Scottsdale Police Department charged Paul with criminal trespass and unlawful assembly, charges that were dropped on Wednesday.

The Department told the Times dropping the charges was in the “best interest of the community” and would allow the federal investigation to be completed.

It has the option of reinstating the charges at a later date.

Paul has gained his celebrity (and 20 million, mostly young, YouTube subscribers) through online “pranks” and sought controversy regularly, a trait which runs in the family.

Paul's party attracted controversy but sure looked like a blast.

The younger Paul was at the centre of controversy last month after a day-long party at his home that drew the ire of Calabasas mayor Alicia Weintraub.

“It wasn’t just myself who was outraged, it was everyone who saw the video,” she told local media at the time.

“It’s just a big huge disregard for everything that everybody is trying to do to get things back to functioning,” she said.

“It’s really just a party acting like COVID does not exist; it’s acting that businesses aren’t closed.”

Paul told Insider he’s “not the type of person who’s going to sit around and not live my life”.
