Australian Border Force commissioner Twitter account ‘liked’ porn tweet
THE official Twitter account of the already scandal-plagued Australian Border Force Commissioner added a sketchy tweet to its liked list.
THE Australian Border Force is being asked to explain why its commissioner’s official Twitter account apparently “liked” a pornographic tweet.
The @ABFComm account, which is described as “the official Twitter account of the Australian Border Force Commissioner”, Roman Quaedvlieg, allegedly added the offending tweet to its “liked” list in July, according to the Daily Mail.
The July 16 tweet was published by an account named LadyMystique_01 featured a black-and-white video showing a woman touching a man’s genitals.
The like came while Mr Quaedvlieg had stepped aside from the job, taking leave amid an external investigation into allegations he had used his position to help his girlfriend get a job with the organisation.
The former police officer denied the allegations and vowed to return to the job.
The Twitter account, which features an image of Mr Quaedvlieg as its profile picture, has not tweeted since May 25, and all the accounts’ likes have been deleted.
It is not clear who may have been in control of the account at the time of the reported “like”.
News.com.au has approached Border Force for comment on the tweet, the Twitter account, and Mr Quaedvlieg’s position.
It is understood the investigation into Mr Quaedvlieg is ongoing.
The incident follows a similar scandal in the US, where Republican Senator Ted Cruz’s account had liked a pornographic post.
The 2016 presidential candidate blamed the errant like on a “staffing issue”.
