Eccentric billionaire John McAfee confident he can be the next president of America
DRUGS, sex and murder have all been common themes in his life, but now he is running to be the President of the United States of America.
IT TURNS out Donald Trump isn’t the only eccentric millionaire entering a bid to become the president of the United States.
Last night technology tycoon John McAfee — best known for McAfee Anti-Virus software — confirmed he would be a contender in the race for the White House.
McAfee flirted with the idea on social media before launching a campaign website and announcing he would run under the banner of the “Cyber Party”.
The 69-year-old entrepreneur said he decided to make his campaign reality after receiving endless encouragement.
“I have a huge underground following on the web,” McAfee told CNN Money.
“I promise you I will win because I have the votes.”
McAfee was tight lipped about all of the details of his candidacy, although he admitted privacy would be a key component of his policy.
“I live in a country that has passed so many laws, that, at an average reading speed, would take me 600 years to read, reading 24 hours a day,” Mr McAfee told the BBC.
“I am protected by a government that invades my privacy so that it can assure me that I am not the enemy it is protecting me from.
“I live in a country that is governed by people largely illiterate in cybersecurity — as proven by the multiple government computer hacks.
“Yet cyber-warfare is now the means of war. My government is dysfunctional. For the 300 million other Americans — you are in the same boat with me.”
One obvious question that arises is if American citizens would be willing to vote for him given his colourful past.
From his drug-fuelled college days to his life as a fugitive following a murder investigation in Belize, McAfee’s life has been a wild journey of mayhem.
However, the reformed bad boy claims his outspoken approach to his previous indiscretions will only work in his favour.
The tech veteran is highly confident leading into the elections saying Trump would have won if it wasn’t for his bid.
He added that he would not be concerning himself with any of the other candidates running for the position.
“I’m not entering this race to compete with other people,” he told CNN Money.
“I’m not going to sling mud at people or run as anyone other than myself.”
We wish you luck, John.
