The father-of-one, who is engaged to be married, sustained serious injuries including collapsed lungs, a broken arm, broken ribs, a broken neck, facial fractures and a brain bleed.

Witnesses quickly rushed to Connor’s aid, with one telling 9News the trail bike rider “hobbled” over to his bike before quickly taking off down the road.

“(He) looked at the guy lying on the ground and was like ‘nope I’m not going there’ and took off,” witness Kristan Simpson told the outlet.

Connor’s fiance, Anneliese Rodger, said she knew something was wrong when the 25-year-old didn’t answer his phone on Tuesday night. She later tracked his location to Princess Alexandra Hospital using a location sharing app.

“From then I pretty much knew, but I was still spam-calling his phone hoping that it wasn’t him, and eventually the hospital called me,” she said.

“It’s really hard to believe someone would get back up and leave.”

The couple share a four-year-old daughter.

Police have launched an investigation and are continuing to hunt for the motorbike rider.

Anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage, particularly the movements of the unregistered trail bike, prior to and after the crash, is urged to contact police.
