Police seize and auction off man’s brand new Lamborghini Huracan

A driver has fallen foul of police after only a few hours of owning his high-powered supercar, and the consequences are devastating.

An owner of a brand new Lamborghini Huracan has fallen foul of the police just hours after picking up his new ride.

The Danish driver was caught travelling at 236km/h in the $400,000-plus supercar on his way home from the dealership.

The Lamborghini Huracan is one of the fastest cars on the road.

The driver allegedly bought the vehicle in Germany and was heading home when he was caught by police at more than 100km/h over the speed limit.

According to US publication Jalopnik, the Police impounded the vehicle under new powers granted to them by the government to stem excessive speeding.

The vehicle will then be auctioned off by police with any money earned going to the Danish government.

The $400,000-plus supercar can hit 100km/h in 3.2 seconds.

And to top it off the driver reportedly received a speeding fine. In Denmark the fine for going this speed on a motorway is about €740.

Police said the owner was “a little annoyed” when the car was seized according to a local newspaper.

The Lamborghini Huracan is powered by a mighty 5.2-litre V10 petrol engine that makes 449kW and 560Nm. This is matched to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that powers all four wheels.

The inside looks like a fighter jet cockpit.

This helps it hit 100km/h from a standstill in just 3.2 seconds on the way to a top speed of 324km/h.

This isn’t the first time a supercar owner has ended up on the wrong side of the law just after receiving their new machine.

A Canadian man had his $500,000 McLaren 600LT impounded just 10 minutes after leaving the dealership in 2019.

According to local police the 39-year-old was nabbed doing 161km/h in a 90km/h zone.

The result of the excessive excitement: he had the car impounded for a week and was fined about $400.

The Huracan has a top speed of more than 320km/h.

Earlier this year Queensland Police auctioned off a rare Lamborghini that has been used to evade police and was linked to dozens of offences.

That vehicle sold for more than $400,000 via online auction in June.
