A 30-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving after a truck smashed into the back of another car, killing a teenager and a woman.
A man has been charged with dangerous driving after a truck crashed into the back of a ute, killing a woman and a teenager on a Queensland highway.
About 11.11pm on Tuesday evening, a semi-trailer was travelling south on the Bruce Highway near the intersection of Reglan Station Rd when it crashed into the back of a Nissan Navara, forcing the ute to crash into the back of a Toyota HiLux, according to police.
A 13-year-old boy and a 40-year-old woman, who were in the Navara, both died at the scene. A 42-year-old man who was driving the Navara and a 15-year-old girl were taken to Rockhampton Base Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver and a passenger in the HiLux suffered minor injuries, with a 20-year-old reporting back pain and being transported to Gladstone Hospital, while a teenager was taken to the same hospital with minor head injuries.
Police have since charged a 30-year-old Kingston man who was driving the truck with one count of dangerous operation of motor vehicle causing death or grievous bodily harm.
Police will allege the driver failed to slow down and crashed into the back of the Navara, which forced it into the HiLux in front.
He is expected to appear before Gladstone Magistrates Court on December 9.
