Pair’s Yarra Valley dinner ruined as couple in Landcruiser unleash: ‘I’m gonna come to f***ing kill you’
An unsuspecting pair’s Australia Day weekend dinner at a ritzy winery in the Yarra Valley has been soured by a scary, foul-mouthed tirade.
A couple has shared the disturbing moment they were berated by the furious driver of a Landcruiser ute and his passenger in a winery car park.
The pair had just arrived at Pietro Gallus Estate, a prestigious Italian vinery in Victoria’s Yarra Valley, on Saturday night when the ugly road rage clash unfolded.
The couple claimed the driver of the Landcruiser took issue with the speed at which they drove past their car after it turned into a driveway near the winery.
Footage shared by Dash Cam Owners of Australia shows the dash cam driver appearing to allow plenty of room for the Landcruiser to turn off the dirt road.
But moments later as the man reverses into a parking spot at the venue, the Landcruiser appears in the middle of the frame, boxing the car in.
The couple - affectionately dubbed “Mr and Mrs Karen” online - then unleash an expletive-laden rant at the pair.
The female passenger in the Landcruiser storms out of the car first and approaches the dash cam vehicle’s door, out of the frame of the clip.
“What the f*** happened? – I’m so confused,” the dash cam driver asks.
The pair eventually wind down the window to hear the woman’s complaint.
“If you f***ing drive down a residential street that has 60 kangaroos on that road ever again, like you just did, I’m gonna come to f***ing kill you,” she says.
“I’ll scratch your car to motherf***ery.”
“We can talk to the cops,” the dash cam driver replies as the pair wind the window up.
“I’ve got CC-f***ing-TV,” the woman from the Landcruiser continues as she walks back to the car.
Not yet done with their tongue lashing, the Landcruiser driver gets out of his seat and marches back to the dash-cam car.
He can be heard saying “don’t be a d***” at one point as the woman, back in the LandCruiser, gestures aggressively.
Although out of frame, the couple’s door handle jarring can be heard in the footage.
“What the f***? – you can’t go opening people’s doors,” the woman yells.
“Bro just let it happen – relax – bro it’s fine,” the man consoles his passenger as the pair in the LandCruiser eventually simmer down and leave.
The pair later added on the Facebook post, “... luckily I had (the door) locked.”
Most of the hundreds in Dash Cam Owners of Australia’s comments section of the video sided with the berated pair.
One argued, “Presumably the aggrieved party drove fairly quickly to get there so soon after the (dash cam) driver, considering that they’d turned off into their property and then had to set off again.”
“They didn’t seem to have much concern for the kangaroos … once they had a victim in their sights,” he said.
“They weren’t far behind you, so obviously they sped down that residential street endangering the 60 kangaroos as well,” alleged another.
Others praised the pair in the parked car and the graceful manner in which they handled the unexpected confrontation.
“Well-handled from the (dash cam) driver by not escalating the situation. I personally didn’t see that you had done anything wrong,” one said.
“Well done to the driver. Kept your cool and managed the scary situation so well. Things like this can escalate so quickly … much respect.” said another.
As for the agitated couple in the LandCruiser, an all too familiar nickname was quickly awarded online – “Mr and Mrs Karen.”
The Yarra Valley and nearby Dandenong Ranges are well known for their large numbers of kangaroos.
In December, Wildlife Victoria reported a significant increase in wildlife casualties due to vehicle collisions over the past four years. In the year ending June 30 last year, 15,206 wildlife incidents where animals were “hit by a vehicle,” were recorded. This represents a 43 per cent increase compared to the previous year.
RACV advises drivers to increase alertness at dawn and dusk, remain vigilant while scanning the roadsides, and avoid swerving in areas known for high wildlife density.
