Mayhem as tow truck driver seizes ute
A tow truck driver was attempting to seize a ute in New York City — and absolute mayhem ensued when the truck was allegedly stolen.
An irate man allegedly stole a tow truck and damaged multiple cars in New York City on morning when he saw his ute being towed, authorities said.
The man sideswiped several vehicles as he took off with the tow truck, which also had his ute hitched to it, police said.
The chaotic incident happened about 10.40am as the tow truck driver tried to seize the man’s vehicle, police said.
The man flew into a rage and allegedly pushed the tow truck driver, hopped in the truck, and took it for a short “joy ride”, leaving a trail of damaged cars in his wake, police said.
He then abandoned the truck and fled on foot, police said.
Video footage shared by News12 shows the man getting in a fighting pose as the tow truck driver defensively retreats.
It then cuts to the truck being driven down the street as the man’s front car door swings open, sideswiping several cars, and finally stopping in front of a city bus.
Giro, a man who’s car was heavily damaged in the melee, said he cannot afford the repairs, and hopes the police catch him, News12 reported.
“I need to call insurance or police, I need this car I need it to take my driver to school,” Giro said.
Police are currently looking for the male.
