Man, 48, charged after pedestrian killed in horror crash in Sydney’s south

Police have issued a major update after a woman in her 60s was allegedly struck and killed by a car while walking down the street.

A man has been charged by police following a woman’s death in a horrific fatal crash in Sydney’s south.

The woman aged in her 60s was walking near the intersection of Forest Rd and Pritchard Pl at Peakhurst when she was fatally hit about 5.45pm Friday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene following frantic calls about the incident which involved a 4WD.

“Despite the efforts of first responders, the pedestrian — a woman believed to be aged in her 60s — died at the scene,” NSW Police said in a statement.

Officers from St George Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police.

The driver of the 4WD, a man in his 40s, was taken to St George Hospital for mandatory testing.

On Saturday, NSW Police confirmed the man had been charged with negligent driving occasioning death.

He was refused bail and briefly appeared before Parramatta Bail Court, and will reappear at Sutherland Local Court on August 9

Two of three lanes on Forest Rd were been closed westbound leading up to Pritchard Pl.
