Crazy detail in rear-end smash sparks alarm among hundreds

Passengers in a truck that smashed into the back of a small car that slowed down in heavy traffic have raised alarm among hundreds of social media users.

Insane detail in terrifying rear-end crash

An incredible detail has been spotted in dashcam footage that captured the terrifying moment a truck smashed into the back of a car.

As the small vehicle came to a gradual stop on Spit Road in Mosman, on Sydney’s north shore, men inside the truck behind it seemed largely oblivious.

Three men were inside the truck – owned by a scaffolding company – two of which were so enthralled with their phones they were completely unaware of the upcoming catastrophe.

After footage from the May 31 incident was shared to Facebook on Wednesday, viewers were fast to highlight their distress at the men not seeing the small car until it was too late.

“What a hard hit. These two guys were holding phones, recording or deep trance praying,” one of more than 650 comments read.

“Looks like they are both mucking around on the mobile phone,” another said.

“That was a big hit and seriously, it should not happen if you’re paying attention, plain and simple,” a third wrote.

The driver of the small vehicle was surprisingly not heard reacting to the smash, which some speculated was an indication they might have been injured.

“Does anyone actually care about the innocent person that got rear-ended?” one wrote in a comment.

“I hope all involved are OK that is a horrific impact,” someone else said.

Others were concerned the men in the truck were hurt too.

“I truly hope the passenger in the centre was OK! These vehicles only have a lap only seatbelt, also known as suicide belts! There is no torso protection,” one wrote.

Some were unsure if the driver too was using a phone in the lead-up to the crash.

“Everyone suggesting the driver was on phone, you can’t even see their face in video due to shadows. Yes they clearly were inattentive to the slowing traffic but not necessarily caused by phone,” one wrote.
