Police appeal for dashcam vision after two trucks crash in Mettler, WA

Two large trucks have collided on a major highway, killing one driver and seriously hurting another. Police are appealing for dashcam footage.

Investigators are seeking assistance following a crash between two large trucks that killed one driver and left another seriously injured in Western Australia.

The two “road train” trucks were driving east on South Coast Highway near Mettler Road, 100 km northeast of Albany, when they crashed about 10.40am on Friday.

A 57-year-old truck driver died from his injuries at the scene.

The other driver, 35, was seriously injured and rushed to Albany Hospital.

WA Police and St John Ambulance attended the incident, along with fire crews who responded to one of the trucks which was found upside down and leaking fuel.

An RAC rescue helicopter also arrived to help rescue one of the trapped drivers.

Police are appealing for anyone driving in the area at the time of the incident to submit dashcam or mobile phone vision.

The highway was temporarily closed between Kojaneerup Spring Road and Mettler Road, Green Range after the incident.
