Oxley Road had been closed in both directions at the rail bridge – at Martindale St northbound and Jerrold St southbound.

The blockage resulted in delays of up to 30 minutes on some TransLink bus services, while the rail services were unaffected.

Minister for Transport and Main Roads Mark Bailey had told motorists who were planning on using the route to “make other plans”.

“A huge mess there at the moment and may take up to six hours to clear,” he said.
