‘I can’t believe that it happened’: Boomer caught allegedly keying a Tesla
A senior citizen accused of keying luxury vehicles in a Brisbane carpark has been arrested after a Tesla’s security cameras allegedly caught him in the act.
A Boomer accused of keying luxury vehicles in broad daylight has been charged after dashcam footage allegedly caught the senior citizen in the act.
Raymond Edwards, 70, was allegedly caught on camera keying a white BMW and a Tesla at inner north Brisbane’s Brookside Shopping Centre in Mitchelton.
Security footage from the damaged Tesla’s on-board cameras, obtained by 7 News, allegedly captures Edwards scratching the vehicles before glancing around to check for onlookers.
The unnamed Tesla owner told the network they were quoted almost $2000 for repairs.
Brookside Shopping Centre manager, Greg Plawecki, expressed his disappointment regarding the alleged incident.
“It is very disappointing, I can’t believe that it happened. It looks like it was targeted towards certain vehicles,” he said.
Queensland Police charged the 70-year-old with two counts of wilful damage related to the two incidents.
Edwards is scheduled to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 11.
On social media, Edwards is depicted as a high-performance car enthusiast, often posing with racing vehicles and attending V8 Supercars events like Bathurst.
A Gucci T-shirt-wearing elderly woman with Edwards was also allegedly filmed keying the cars but has not yet been charged.
