Audi Q2, Audi A3 recalled over safety concerns

The recall affects two luxury car models – and almost 8000 cars – sold between 2019 and 2023 after a wiring fault was detected.

Nearly 8000 Audi cars have been recalled after a wiring fault was detected.

The Department of Transport issued the notice that 7758 Audi Q2 and Audi A3 models sold between 2019 and 2023 were affected.

“Due to an installation defect, the internal fuse box wiring harness may become loose,” the department’s recall notice warned.

“If this occurs, the instrument cluster may fail to illuminate, internal, external lamps may switch off, and the vehicle may experience a sudden loss of motive power whilst driving.”

However, the department stated drivers would still be able to steer and brake even in the event of a failure.

“A sudden loss of motive power and reduced or poor visibility whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users,” the notice said.

Any owners affected in the recall can expect to be contacted by Audi.

Audi dealerships will repair the fault free of charge.
