HAS Apple lost another iPhone 4G?

It would be tempting to dismiss the latest appearance of the next generation device as an elaborate hoax, but a Vietnamese website has already dissected it and posted the pictures online.

Forum Taoviet.vn has also shown screenshots of the iPhone - which it claims was bought together with an iPad from a businessman in the US - up and running, showing a screen with the word "Inferno" on it and the battery life at 24 per cent.

The "Inferno" could refer to firmware which macrumors claims has been seen on other iPhone prototypes in the past.

The Taoviet.vn unit also has a 16GB detail on the back of the case, whereas the unit lost by Apple software engineer Gray Powell several weeks ago was marked "XXGB".

Inside is an Apple-branded processor. Engadget claims the black "N90" text on the white sticker is code for Apple's next-generation GSM iPhone.

It also claims that its translation of the video puts the iPhone's value at $US4000.

More pictures of the supposed iPhone 4G can be seen at Taoviet.vn
