Persona developer working on ‘several’ new titles

The developer behind the popular Persona series has said it’s working on several new titles, some of which will be announced in 2023

Monster Hunter Rise is coming to Xbox Game Pass

Atlus, the developer of the incredibly popular JRPG series Persona, has said that it’s working on several new titles, which are set to be announced sometime in 2023.

The news comes courtesy of a digital holiday greeting card issued by Atlus and released by Famitsu. In the card, Atlus thanks players for their support in 2022, and tells fans to look forward to more Persona and other games in 2023. The company mysteriously hinted at new titles that were due to be announced in the coming year, but didn’t give up any further details.

“Thank you very much for your support and patronage of the Persona 4 Arena Ultimax remaster, the Nintendo Switch version of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, and Persona 5 Royal,” Atlus said, “In 2023, we will start with the release of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden remastered editions, and we are also preparing several new titles that have not yet been announced. Please look forward to it!”

The company also revealed that an updated version of Persona 5 Royal, which was released on Xbox, Switch, and PC late last year, sold over 1 million units in its first month on sale. The total sales of Persona 5 Royal are now over 3.3 million units worldwide, including the updated version and the previous version for the PS4.

The Persona games have become wildly popular in the West since the release of Persona 5 in 2016, but the series has seen success for decades in Japan. The series is a part of a genre called JRPGs, or Japanese role playing games, which typically have a strong focus on party-focused combat.

Remasters of the previous two games in the series, Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden, are due to release on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC on January 18. The games previously released exclusively on handheld consoles, and this marks the first time they’ll be available on home consoles.

Sega, Atlus’ parent company, recently announced that the latest Sonic game would be getting free DLC characters. Sonic Frontiers was released in November, and the upcoming update to the game will seemingly let players play through the game as Tails, Knuckles, and Amy.

Sonic the Hedgehog might also be getting Lego this year, if a prevalent leaker is to be believed. The blue hedgehog previously appeared in a Lego Ideas set, but will reportedly be getting five new sets in 2023.
