PlayStation has announced its next batch of games included in its PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe subscriptions, including one of the PS5’s best games.

PlayStation owners who are subscribed to the higher tiers PlayStation Plus are in for a treat this month, as Sony has announced a new batch of included games, including one very high profile game.

The headlining game of the new batch is Horizon: Forbidden West, which will be available for PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe subscribers on both PS4 and PS5. It’s somewhat of a surprising addition to the service, as the game only launched in February last year.

Unlike Xbox’s Game Pass subscription service, which has all Microsoft-published games available to subscribers from the moment they become available, first-party Sony games aren’t included on PlayStation Plus on day one.

Horizon: Forbidden West is the sequel to the action adventure smash hit Horizon: Zero Dawn, which was released in 2017 to rave reviews. It expanded on the previous game’s mechanics, offering new ways of traversal and combat options, while also offering a new game world to explore and a new story.

It’s not the only game being added to PlayStation Plus, however. Extra and Deluxe subscribers also get access to The Quarry, Resident Evil 7, and Borderlands 3. They’ll also be getting access to the Australian-developed cult classic The Forgotten City.

Fans of JRPGs are in luck too, as Bandai Namco’s Scarlet Nexus will be available too, as well as a trio of games from celebrated developer Tokyo RPG Factory: I Am Setsuna, Lost Sphear, and Oninaki.

Deluxe subscribers will get additional access to more original PlayStation games, including The Legend of Dragoon, Wild Arms 2, and Harvest Moon: Back to Nature, an early farm simulator game that inspired modern games like Stardew Valley.

The games will become available to subscribers on February 21, 2023, and as with all PlayStation Plus games, games redeemed will remain playable for as long as players stay subscribed to the service.

It was revealed late last year that new Horizon DLC would only be coming to the PS5. A new expansion for Horizon: Forbidden West, subtitled Burning Shores, takes players to a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, but it won’t be available to PS4 players.

PlayStation is also cutting its free games for PS5 owners, Sony announced earlier this month. A collection of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers who upgraded to the PS5 is due to be pulled from the store in May.
