New Pokemon details to be announced next week

Fans are hoping that a new Pokemon livestream set to take place next week will reveal details of new games in the series.

The anniversary of the Pokemon franchise is next week, known by fans as Pokemon Day, and a livestream showing off new details will take place to celebrate.

The Pokemon Company has announced a livestream set to take place on Pokemon Day, and is said to be sharing “exciting Pokemon news” with fans of the series.

The company said in the announcement tweet that the presentation will last for about 20 minutes, but gave no indication as to what might be included. Fans are hoping for big fixes to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the latest games in the series, which launched in a “buggy and broken” state.

Nintendo has already announced a patch for the game said to fix many of the issues, releasing a preliminary set of patch notes ahead of the presentation next week, after previously promising to fix the new games. The notes describe a host of issues that will be fixed when the update is live, but don’t mention performance issues, which is one of the primary complaints of players.

Nintendo also said that the update will contain “further features and bug fixes not listed in these patch notes”, suggesting that there could be some surprises in store for Pokemon fans, and more issues than listed could be fixed.

Fans have been speculating what else could be shown off in the presentation, with hard evidence suggesting that new Pokemon Go news could be included. The developer of the game, Niantic Labs, retweeted the announcement, so fans should expect to see something about the mobile game there.

It’s also been suggested that expansion content for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet could be announced, following on from paid DLC that was released for the previous games in the series, Pokemon Sword and Shield.

One rumour that seems to have surfaced a lot over the last few months is that of a new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game. Mystery Dungeon games are dungeon crawlers that feature different mechanics from the main games, and were popular on the Nintendo DS and 3DS.

Only one Mystery Dungeon game has been released on the Nintendo Switch, a remake of the first game in the series.
