League of Legends Nerf gun costs $250
A Nerf gun inspired by popular League of Legends character Jinx will set fans back a whopping $250.
Hasbro has announced a new League of Legends-inspired Nerf gun as part of its high-end Nerf LMTD range, and it comes in at a very hefty price point.
The Nerf LMTD League of Legends Jinx Fishbones Blaster, as it’s so eloquently titled, is based on Jinx’s signature in-game weapon, Fishbones (the name kind of gives this away). In League of Legends, it’s a big, shark-shaped blaster capable of firing huge rockets.
While the Nerf gun equivalent can’t fire rockets, it has been lovingly recreated by the team at Hasbro, resulting in an incredible-looking replica that’s more than 90cm long. The toy weapon fires standard Nerf Elite foam darts in clusters of three, and the drum inside the shark’s mouth holds six clusters, for a total capacity of 18 darts.
Like much of the Nerf LMTD range, however, it’ll cost a pretty penny, coming in at $US170 ($250). Previous promotional tie-ins have seen Nerf weapons for The Mandalorian, Halo, and Star Trek, all of which came in over $US100 ($150), although the Jinx Fishbones is the most expensive of the range by a pretty wide margin. The toy is not currently available to purchase in Australia.
Jinx and her gun Fishbones featured heavily in the popular animated League of Legends series Arcane, which aired on Netflix in late-2021 and is set to launch for a second season sometime after 2022. The show follows Jinx and her sister Vi as they come to terms with being on opposing sides of a conflict in the mythical city of Piltover.
Riot Games recently came under fire after it was revealed that a new League of Legends LGBT character would be censored in some regions. The new character, K’Sante, was set to be the first gay Black champion in the game, but countries with legal restrictions on the depiction of LGBT+ people would be allowed to change or omit certain aspects to “fit into the local culture”.
It came after the team who went on to win the Worlds 2022 championship, DRX, caused a stunning upset at the League of Legends semi-finals, defeating the #1 seed in the Korean league Gen.G in a 3-1 sweep. Gen.G was largely favoured to win Worlds, but a mistake under pressure from the team led to an incredible opportunity for DRX to swing the matchup in its favour.
