DRX has defeated Gen.G 3-1 in a League of Legends semi-finals series that had the entire community on the edge of their seats.

Gen.G was the #1 seed in the LCK, or League of Legends Champions Korea league, and for many, was the sure-fire pick to advance to the finals. Still, DRX has had a stellar Championship run, defeating the previous World Champs EDG in a come-from-behind sweep, winning three matches in a row.

The first two games were nailbiters, with both teams taking a victory over the other, but DRX handily won the third round, putting them on the pedestal to defeat Gen.G and advance to the finals.

In the final round, the game was equal in gold totals up until 27 minutes mark — while DRX had secured more objectives than Gen.G, Gen.G was secure in their farming, and was able to keep up by virtue of solid decision-making and identifying when to strike and when to back down. Until approximately 24 minutes in, that is.

Gen Chovy, while navigating towards bottom lane, accidentally used his Flash ability — locking him out of his only escape tool for five minutes, and a clear sign that the pressure was starting to kick in. Merely two minutes later, Gen Peanut, while trying to clear out the vision surrounding Baron, gets ganked by DRX Pyosik and BeryL — and it all cascades from there.

Gen Doran teleports in way, way too early and gets picked off almost immediately, and DRX is allowed to defeat Baron for free. DRX then takes Dragon, the Southern Tower, and the Middle Tower with little contest.

After a brief skirmish, DRX was able to push down the Tier 2 Southern Tower as well. The final pendulum swing in DRX’s favour was a standoff at Dragon at the 34 minute mark, where DRX Beryl landed a four-man stun with Braum’s Glacial Fissure, giving DRX both Dragon and four kills, although GEN Ruler was able to outduel two DRX members in the process.

From there, DRX takes the next Baron and pushes in both the top and middle lanes, claiming both inhibitors before sealing the deal and claiming victory. DRX will face T1 in the finals on November 5 in San Francisco.
