God of War Ragnarok, the next big first party game from Sony, finally arrives in November

God of War Ragnarok, one of the biggest games of the year, will release in November, from Sony and its Santa Monica studio.

God of War Ragnarök Release and Pre-Order Dates Officially Announced

God of War: Ragnarok, one of the few massive, triple-A scale games that’s still on course for this year and has already been announced, has finally got a release date after weeks of (fairly ridiculous) fan outcry around supposed delays.

November 9, 2022 will see the sequel to 2018’s God of War, a reboot of and successor to the series that started in 2005. It sees series protagonist Kratos and his son Atreus take on the myths, legends, and indeed gods of the Norse pantheon.

We know relatively little of the details, beyond that both characters will return from 2018 and Thor is likely to make an appearance from his post-game appearance there and concept art that has been shown online. Freya is also likely to return, though more antagonistic than her primary function in 2018 as a guide and friendly introduction to much of the world.

The new trailer also features a humungous dog. Could be Fenrir, could be someone else. Take a look:

Sony and Santa Monica also revealed a huge number of different editions and possibilities to pick up the game, beyond just buying it. You can see the Collector’s and “Jötnar” Editions here. Pre-orders – for every version – begin on July 15.
