CD Projekt Red, the developers behind the Witcher series of games and Cyberpunk 2077, announced their upcoming projects via a “long-term product outlook”. The outlook includes five new Witcher games, an expansion and sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, and a new IP.

The announcement came quietly over Twitter. The Witcher, a series of books, games and a Netflix show that follow the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, is a hugely popular sword and sorcery series among gamers. The new Witcher games include Project Sirius, a new Witcher trilogy, and Project Canis Majoris. While the new trilogy will be created in-house, Project Sirius and Canis Majoris will be created at other studios with oversight from CDPR.

Project Sirius, according to the release, is “an innovative take on The Witcher universe telling an unforgettable story for existing Witcher fans and new audiences,” while Canis Majoris aims to be a “story-driven, single-player open-world RPG set in the Witcher Universe.” The new Witcher trilogy is in pre-production, with all three games aiming to release within six years after the first game’s launch.

On the Cyberpunk side of things, a new story-driven DLC for Cyberpunk 2077, named Phantom Liberty, is in its final production phase. No release date has been given, but judging by the team size (350+) it can be expected to be a large expansion. A sequel to 2077 was announced, codenamed Orion, but no further details were announced.

Finally, CDPR announced Project Hadar, a stand-alone IP distinct from Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077. It was developed internally since late 2021, and is still in the conceptual phase, but otherwise no other details were given.

Cyberpunk 2077 had a bit of a rough launch with numerous game breaking bugs and issues, causing the game to be widely regarded as an example of crunch culture gone wrong. Since then, however, the game has been patched repeatedly to bring it up to standards, and with the recent anime hit Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, has found a surge of players exploring the game again.
