The consumer watchdog has issued a warning over a pair of knock off Apple AirPods being sold at Officeworks that could potentially start a fire.

The charging cable included with the OTTO brand TW100 True Wireless earbuds being sold at the Bunnings of stationery has the potential to “overheat and burn through” according to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s Product Safety Australia portal.

“If the charging cord overheats and burns through, this may cause a fire, increasing the risk of serious injury or death,” the ACCC said.

The Commission advises you stop using the charging cable that came with the buds and return them to Officeworks for a full refund.

The buds were sold in store and online from July 14 to October 20 this year.
