Elly Awesome reviews $149 Dyson bladeless fan dupe, Angelo Cooling fan

A Dyson tower fan can set you back $600 but a tech vlogger has found a much cheaper bladeless cooling fan that looks just like the real deal.

Tips to beat the summer heat

REVIEW

February has been stinkin’ hot and I’ve been doing everything I can to cool down. For a long-time I’ve wanted to purchase one of those unique Dyson bladeless fans to keep me cool. They look stylish and futuristic and are surprisingly effective.

However, everything Dyson makes is pretty expensive so I went searching for a budget-friendly alternative.

A Dyson bladeless fan will run you around $500-600 so I really had to scour the web to find a quality copycat bargain. After doing a ton of research and reading heaps of user reviews about budget bladeless fans, I found out that a lot of these fans are often either too noisy or they barely blow any air. Yikes. It seemed like I could easily get a melon.

However, after a lot of back and forth, I ordered the 31” Angelo Bladeless Cooling Fan from eBay.

This fan was only $149. It was one of the cheapest bladeless fans I could find online, was apparently quiet and as a bonus it even came with a remote.

The product arrived quickly, but there wasn’t much to see, arriving in a simple cardboard box without a brand name on it. On the side of the box it read “Product name: Tower Fan”, “Product model: TP-18PRO” with a couple of other stats.

There were three colour options when I purchased this fan – white/silver, grey/red, grey/silver. I chose the grey/silver to try and have it look even more like a Dyson and I think it looks great! However, the included instruction manual was terrible but luckily I had the fan set up in a couple of minutes regardless.

On the bottom of the fan there are four buttons – on/off, fan strength, oscillation and a timer. The fan’s power can be adjusted from a speed of one to nine. Although I found the fan quite gentle, luckily, number nine (the highest) was perfect.

It would be great if the fan was a bit more powerful and had a setting of 11 but it’s just enough to be what you’d expect from a decent fan.

The oscillation was a bonus and it’s smooth and quiet. You can also use the feature just as you would with any fan and tap the oscillation button, let the fan move and tap it again to stop it in place.

The fan is surprisingly lightweight, so I often move it to different rooms as required. Even though it’s light, it’s fairly sturdy and I noticed that an accidental bump was unlikely to knock it over, though a bump with a lot of force could.

Lastly, the fan remote came with a battery installed and had the same functions that are on the fan itself. It really comes in handy, the only thing is you have to be pointing it directly at the base of the fan for it to work. Sometimes this is tricky when laying in bed.

Overall, I think I really lucked out on this one. It’s quiet enough that you could sleep with the fan on but powerful enough to cool you down. Being bladeless it’s also great to have around kids and pets, at the user’s discretion.

I wouldn’t want to spend any more money on a fan for this price (unless it was the real thing) but for $150 I am really content with this product.
