Loder Creek, west of Southport on the Gold Coast, received 81mm in the hour to 9.15pm, while Bonogin, in the Gold Coast hinterland recorded 79mm in the hour to 10.10pm.

More than 145mm has fallen on Bonogin in the Gold Coast Hinterland from 9am yesterday until the early hours of today, with around 122mm falling at Loders Creek, 95mm at Neranwood and 60mm falling at Tallebudgera Creek Road.

Brisbane copped more than 100mm while about 50mm fell on the Gold Coast city region in just 30 minutes.

The downpour caused flash flooding in some areas, with several drivers seen on the Gold Coast and Brisbane attempting to drive across flooded roads.

Localised flooding is also disrupting some bus services. See TransLink for details.

A storm warning was cancelled early this morning. The rain is expected to continue into the morning before easing off.

Heavy falls have also been continuing in the state’s north.

The outback region of Julia Creek received 127mm of rain yesterday while North Queensland faces a possible double whammy of two tropical cyclones forming in the Gulf and Coral seas.

The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting a more active monsoonal burst across the state’s Top End in the coming week.

The BoM said there was only a “low” possibility of any cyclones in the next seven days.
