NORTH Queensland faces a possible double whammy of two tropical cyclones forming up in the Gulf and Coral Sea.
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting a more active monsoonal burst across the state’s Top End in the coming week.
The BoM said there was only a “low” possibility of any cyclones in the next seven days.
“The main message is we are going to see intensifying monsoon activity,” meteorologist Andrew Bufalino said.
It comes with a deep tropical low system anchored over northwest Queensland delivering life-giving flooding rain to Winton, Julia Creek and Cloncurry districts.
In the state’s southeast, a severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for areas including Toowoomba, Oakey and Crows Nest.
