Conor McGregor offers laughable excuse for infamous loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov

It remains a career-defining loss for the Irish superstar and Conor McGregor still can’t admit he was beaten fair and square by Khabib.

Khabib's victory: all hell breaks loose

UFC superstar Conor McGregor has offered a laughable excuse for his infamous loss to Russian fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.

Nurmagomedov was named the UFC lightweight champion in October 2018 after trumping the Irish entertainer via submission in round four.

McGregor did not enter the Octagon for 14 months after the defeat, and has twice retired from MMA fighting since.

Meanwhile, Nurmagomedov remains undefeated in the UFC having recorded 28 consecutive professional wins — the 31-year-old currently sits at No. 2 on the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings.

Nurmagomedov is scheduled to make his highly-anticipated return at UFC 254 in October, where he will take on American fighter Justin Gaethje for the lightweight belt.

UFC commentator and popular podcaster Joe Rogan shared his excitement for the mouth-watering clash on Instagram.

“It would be impossible for me to be more excited about this fight,” Rogan wrote.

“The return of the GOAT lightweight king, @khabib_nurmagomedov vs his most dangerous challenger, @justin_gaethje.

“I CAN’T F***ING WAIT.”

But McGregor was seemingly unimpressed with the remarks, replying to Rogan’s post in the comments on Wednesday.

“Chill bro I’d a hangover,” the former two-weight champion responded.

McGregor’s cheeky comment has registered over 15,400 likes.

Since McGregor’s victory over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246, MMA fans have speculated whether a rematch with Nurmagomedov was in the works.

However, McGregor broke hearts after he decided to retire from fighting in early June.

“Thank you all for the amazing memories! What a ride it’s been!” the UFC great tweeted last month.
