Novak Djokovic takes Nick Kyrgios bromance to the next level at Aus Open

Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios have come a long away in their budding bromance. They couldn’t help themselves on Tuesday.

Novak takes Kyrgios bromance to next level

Novak Djokovic has taken his bromance with Nick Kyrgios to the next level, blowing kisses to the injured Aussie star during his Australian Open quarterfinal.

Djokovic and Kyrgios used to fire barbs at each other, but now it’s all love between the pair as the 36-year-old Serb left the Aussie laughing in the ESPN commentary box.

Djokovic is chasing his 11th Australian Open title and will have claimed his fifth in six years if he can win at Melbourne Park in 2024.

But during the first set of his quarterfinal against American 12th seed Taylor Fritz, the world No. 1 couldn’t help himself.

After spotting Kyrgios in the commentary box, Djokovic went over and bantered with the Aussie, appearing to motion for Kyrgios to make it out on court before sticking his tongue out.

Then when Djokovic claimed the set point, he put his hand to his ear. He then he pointed to the commentary box before blowing a kiss.

The cameras caught Kyrgios in the box loving the attention.

Plenty of fans felt the same way as they took to social media to express their love over the blossoming bromance that has grown throughout the Australian Open.

It’s a bromance that’s been years in the making for the pair but it really turned a corner amid the 2022 deportation drama.

Kyrgios had been critical of Djokovic, particularly during his infamous Adria Tour during Covid in 2020.

But the Aussie proved to be one of the most outspoken critics of the Australian government’s treatment of Djokovic, and the pair have never looked back.

Playing in the 2022 Wimbledon final, Kyrgios admitted it was a “bromance”.

Since then it’s been nothing but love between the pair.

The 28-year-old Kyrgios even opened up saying he and Djokovic sent each other memes almost every other day, even admitting they didn’t used to see eye-to-eye.

“We had a rocky relationship at the start and a couple of things changed and now we literally speak nearly every day,” Kyrgios said in Eurosport commentary earlier in the tournament.

While Kyrgios is often accused of disrespect or not taking the sport seriously — even openly admitting he “absolutely hated tennis” growing up — it’s clear he respects Djokovic, joking he’d only return when the Serb retires.

“I think when Novak decides to pack it all up you’ll see a bunch of guys winning Slams,” Kyrgios said.

“Secretly that’s my tactic, I’m just waiting for Novak to go, then I’ll go into hibernation, get in the best shape of my life, protected ranking. It’s been my plan all along. Leave me alone Novak.”
