The Australian of the Year and disability advocate has shocked fans after a video emerged of him using a sex toy on his partner at a restaurant.

Dylan Alcott has raised eyebrows after publicly using a sex toy on his girlfriend while on holiday in the UK – but the racy display has left some questioning whether it is “appropriate”.

The 2022 Australian of the Year helped his partner Chantelle Otten, a well-known sexologist, road test a new vibrator as the pair dined at a London restaurant.

Chantelle, 31, had discreetly slipped the adult product into her undies and synched the control to her phone – leaving Dylan, 31, in charge of her “pleasure”.

The Melbourne sex therapist later shared a video of their activities on her Instagram Stories to promote the brand – and the video has sent shockwaves through social media.

Some fans of the disability expert – a three time Paralympic gold medallist in wheelchair tennis and basketball – expressed their surprise at the risque clip, while others suggested it was an inappropriate use of his platform.

“Hey great platform you have, so you post videos of you using a vibrator on your gf in a restaurant?? You should be ashamed of yourself,” one outraged Twitter user wrote on Thursday.

“This is a bit much,” another declared.

As others labelled the video “outrageous” and “scandalous” online.

In the series of clips, shared to promote a brand Chantelle works with, she explained she was popping the music-activated vibrator to dinner with tennis star Dylan and several friends.

Dylan could then be seen controlling the vibrator via a phone app, sending Chantelle into a visible spin.

In a bid to demonstrate how powerful the item was, she allowed her friends to touch her crotch to feel it in action.

“This part slips in your knickers,” she explained at the start of the clip while showing off the device.

“It’s a really fun toy and can be versatile.”

After showing how much she enjoyed the product, Chantelle then told her 170,000 followers it was “great for date night”.

“Hand over control to your partner (or whoever, really!) Great for parties. Was it restaurant appropriate? I don’t know, but we had fun!” she concluded.

Dylan and Chantelle have been dating for four years, with Chantelle previously declaring his physical limitations don’t affect their sex life.

“A lot of people think people with a disability don’t have sex but I’m having the best sex of my life and it’s important for me to say that,” she told Stellar in December 2020.

“There are people out there who might have a crush on someone with a disability but aren’t confident to ask questions about it. They need to know that these sex lives are important and erotic and achievable, and they can build a life together.

“Dylan and I are quite private but it’s important to get the word out. For me, working with people and having them know I’m in a relationship with someone with a disability is great.”

She also opened up about how she doesn’t let her job as a sexologist affect their relationship, stating she doesn’t feel pressure to have a perfect sex life.

“I’m just a normal person who has a relationship,” she told news.com.au in October last year.

“I’m not my own therapist, I’m not my partner’s therapist.

“I’m not ever going to come into a scenario saying that I know best here.”

Last year, she also released her first book, The Sex Ed You Never Had, and has been vocal about her aim to break down the stigma surrounding sexual “taboos”.
