Earlier on Monday, the Aussie star posted a video about Jones while he was on air about the sledges which caused Djokovic to boycott a post-match interview.

Filming from the player terrace towards the Nine broadcast booth, Kyrgios said: “How the f*** does this guy still have a f***ing job? It is putrid stuff.

“Tony Jones, you absolute flop. F***ing Chompers mate.”

He was less directly abusive in a video posted to his Instagram page on Monday night.

The comedy skit saw Kyrgios and a friend both dressed in Djokovic shirts, with Kyrgios pretending to be a journalist.

“Kyrgios, he’s a has-been! Kyrgios, he’s overrated! Kyrgios, kick him out! Ha ha ha!” ‘Djokovic’ says.

“Boy I’m glad he can not hear me, you know, because that would be...”

Kyrgios then responds: “Novak, we’re on live television mate!”

‘Djokovic’ says: “Aww, yeah yeah, of course. Who would be stupid enough to say that on live television?”

Kyrgios finishes: “Yeah. No one.”

Kyrgios and Djokovic have become friends over the last few years, even playing doubles together at the Brisbane International.

Earlier Djokovic “acknowledged” Jones’ apology for the controversial comments.

“Novak acknowledges the apology has been given in public as requested, and is now moving on and focusing on his next match,” a Tennis Australia statement read.
