Alex de Minaur set for daunting Jannik Sinner quarterfinal clash
Alex de Minaur is into the final eight of the Australian Open, but he’s staring down the barrel of decisively one-sided showdown.
Day 9 of the Australian Open is in the books with Australian Alex de Minaur advancing into the quarterfinals for the first time.
The last remaining local hope proved too strong on Monday night as he decimated his American rival in straight sets.

All the talk on the day however surrounded Novak Djokovic after he refused to do an on-court interview with Jim Courier after his fourth round win, because of comments made by Nine presenter Tony Jones.
The veteran broadcaster issued a public apology which Djokovic accepted, but Jones’ colleagues defended him for what they say was some Australian humour that’s been lost in translation.
On the court however the top seeds in Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek advanced while Madison Keys upset Elena Rybakina.
The quarterfinal matches for both the men’s and women’s draws have now been locked in with the action commencing on Tuesday.
