Caulfield Guineas Private Life set to take on older horses in Group 1 CF Orr Stakes at Caulfield
Caulfield Guineas winner Private Life is one of two three-year-olds entered for a crack at star galloper Mr Brightside in Saturday’s Group 1 CF Orr Stakes at Caulfield.
Caulfield Guineas winner Private Life is set to have a crack at becoming the 18th three-year-old to beat the older horses in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes.
Private Life was master trainer Chris Waller’s sole entry for Saturday’s edition of the Caulfield feature, which attracted 13 nominations.
The exciting colt is one of two three-year-olds entered for the $750,000 event alongside the Clinton McDonald-trained Angel Capital.

Private Life could join Redoute’s Choice (2000), All Too Hard (2013) and Alabama Express (2020) as three-year-old CF Orr Stakes winners that have progressed to successful stud careers.
Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr were the last trainers to win the CF Orr Stakes with a three-year-old when Jacquinot won on protest in 2023.
Last year’s winner Mr Brightside is the highest-rated Orr Stakes entry on 119, seven points clear of dual Group 1 winner Southport Tycoon.
Southport Tycoon, who was a beaten favourite first-up in the Group 2 Australia Stakes at The Valley, is one of four entries from the Ciaron Maher stable.
Maher has also entered the resuming Another Wil and the hard-fit Chorlton Lane along with Semana, who ran third first-up in the $1m Magic Millions Sprint at the Gold Coast.
Mr Brightside is the $2.30 favourite in the opening all-in market on the CF Orr Stakes ahead of Another Wil at $5.
Australia Stakes winner Schwarz is a $6 chance with Steparty next best at $8.
Private Life is at $11 in early betting with Angel Capital a $26 chance.
Regular rider Craig Williams will be aboard Mr Brightside on Saturday while Ben Allen will stick with Group 1 Memsie Stakes winner Pinstriped.
Blake Shinn will again ride Schwarz after steering him to his Australia Stakes success.
