Shayno: Hello Mitchy. Straight up question. No sitting on the fence. Storm Boy or Gatsby’s? And why?

Mitch: Too easy, Shayno. If you can get even money Gatsby’s, I reckon he’s the bet of the day. He was in a world of his own winning first up in the Rosebud and a repeat of that performance has him winning the San Domenico quite comfortably.

Enriched by Winx: Collett makes winning a family affair

Shayno: I’m with Gatsby’s. They’ve always liked him from that rainy night in February that he beat Silmarillion and co. That sprint of his first-up was out of this world and I just am not sold on Storm Boy. But I have been wrong before.

Mitch: The Up And Coming should be just as interesting for mine. That’s obviously because of Autumn Glow. She was sensational on debut and you don’t often hear Chris Waller calling a horse ‘pretty special’ after one start. She will show why again second-up.

Boom filly can add to McEvoy’s Spring Glow

Shayno: This could come back to bite me but is Autumn Glow and even-money shot? Might be a champion, we will see, but I am going to have something small on Totoka at $81 and $13 the place for the 2004 Up and Coming-winning trainer Paul Perry.

Mitch: I’ve been waiting for you to give the punters some value, Shayno. You could be a hero to a nation. What else do you like?

Shayno: Keen to see how Ceolwulf goes second-up on Saturday. I still think he was the moral victor of the Derby but anyway, he’ll have his chance to beat Riff Rocket one day I imagine.

‘Follow with confidence’: Amor wins in store for plunge horse

Mitch: Ceolwulf ran an identical race best last 600m as Tom Kitten in his first-up run so we know he’s come back in top order. I am with you and keen to stick with him throughout this preparation. He’s got a good race in him for sure.

Shayno: The last races are as good as any on the day. Keen on Battleton in an impossible penultimate affair. Then in the Get Out Stakes, we get to see Briasa back in action. Team Hawkes has a good sprint arsenal, this is one of them.

Mitch: I might be going off a run early but keen to stick with Thunderlips on an each way basis in the second last. As for Briasa, I tend to agree. Here’s hoping he stays unbeaten.
