Race 1 – 3YO Benchmark 58 Handicap (1100m)
No shortage of speed here but the one with poly form is the resuming AQUATIER (4) which won her Maiden on the Gold Coast polytrack and was far from disgraced at subsequent turf outings. She can do things wrong but has speed and with Jace McMurray’s 2kg claim will be hard to beat.
KING SPIRIT (1) is having his first poly outing but has abundant speed and the ace draw is a big advantage. There is a question on his stamina but Montana Philpot’s 2kg clam helps and he is the one they have to run down.
HACKING (5) was dominant when resuming at Lismore and has won a trial since. He will be prominent for a long way.
SOUL BROTHER (7) got the Maiden out of the way at Bundaberg and in a race with no depth can fill a hole.
Verdict – AQUATIER (4) brings the poly form.

Race 2 – Maiden Plate (1400m)
DENUTO (6) has shown promise at both outings and did all the hard work before being collared late at Grafton. He has speed and Damien Thornton can control the race.
A wide gate cost WARNA (7) last start after just missing at Rockhampton over this trip at his previous outing. Trained here, he drops 1.5kg and Kyle Wilson-Taylor can take full advantage of the inside gate.
COME MIDNIGHT (3) won his most recent trial and this trip should suit at debut. Out of a tough mare that won seven times up to 1666m, he meets moderate company and will have something to give.
No depth in this and that gives IN SOCIETY (8) a chance to show what she has.
Verdict – DENUTO (6) the most likely.

Race 3 – Benchmark 62 Handicap (1400m)
Upside is with CHO OYU (3) which showed promise last preparation and hit the line better than any behind Antonito when resuming in better class than this. He rises 2kg but from the ace draw gets all the favours and will be hard to pass,
IRON POWER (6)’s only win was on the poly and last start he made ground from a wide gate at Eagle Farm. Better drawn here, a positive ride will make a difference.
NOTACLUEHOWORWHO (4) finds it hard to win but is fitter for three outings and is rarely far away. In a race with little depth he can make his presence felt.
TORQUE LEICA STAR (1) is resuming and wants longer but has won twice on the poly. He has been readied by a trial and with Montana Philpot’s 2kg claim will be strong late.
Verdict – CHO OYU (3) the one to beat.

Race 4 – Benchmark 62 Handicap (1400m)
RIDEAU (1) has been racing soundly with a win and two placings from four outings since joining Darryl Hansen. He just missed over this trip on turf last preparation, has speed and with Jai Williams will be hard to pass.
SURREAL I AM (5) brings NSW form, is resuming and has benefited from a recent trial. When last in Queensland he placed in the Magic Millions Maiden and franked that by winning at Doomben subsequently. A replication of that form is good enough for this.
JUNGLE FEVER (3) struggled from a wide gate at Ipswich last start but has won on the poly here and with a good gate draws to do no work. He drops 2kg, Corey Sutherland stays on and a positive ride has him in the finish.
Blinkers come off TOUCHOFCLASS (8) which showed improvement to place here last start. This trip suits and if she handles the poly will be strong late.
Verdict – RIDEAU (1) has more to offer.

Race 5 – 2YO Maiden Plate (1000m)
Experience counts and ANGEL’S TRUMPET (6) hasn’t been helped by wide gates at both outings since resuming. She draws the ace here and Dale Smith can control the race.
PRONTO PERCY (9) has speed and will find this easier than the Jewel Prelude. She placed here on the turf at debut and can give a sight again.
PRECISE TORQUE (3) is bred for speed by SpIrit Of Boom out of a fast Group 3 winning mare. He didn’t flatter in his trial but gets a 2kg claim for Montana Philpot and won’t find an easier race for debut.
The tongue-tie comes off MILESTONE (7) which is resuming after being run down late at Ipswich over 800m. She has speed, has a trial under her belt and will be prominent.
Verdict – ANGEL’S TRUMPET (6) to heed the call.

Race 6 – Maiden Plate (1000m)
Stuart Kendrick is leading Sunshine Coast trainer for a reason and SPRING BIRD (9) was only run down late here over this trip on turf when resuming after a long spell. She is awkwardly drawn but has abundant speed and Kyle Wilson-Taylor can get it done.
SPELLHOUND (4) was never on the track and not beaten far on debut. He is drawn awkwardly again but will be improved and has enough speed to be prominent
PROUD MISS (7) got back and made some ground on debut. Longer will be better but this is a weak field and she could test them late.
KETTLEBELL (10) has been trying for a while but will appreciate a strong speed and Dale Smith can pick them off late.
Verdict – SPRING BIRD (9) finds the right race.

Race 7 – Benchmark 62 Handicap (1000m)
A two-time winner on the polytrack here, MIO SORRENTO (2) has been racing consistently on turf and ran on to beat all but Platinum Lies here in a Benchmark 68 last start. With Corey Sutherland’s 3kg claim he carries the same weight in lesser grade and will be hard to beat.
CURRY LEGEND (5) disappointed last week but returned with blood in the mouth. He has won on the poly previously and with Jai Willams has the speed to overcome a wide gate.
KAT CHINNA (14) is another drawn poorly but loves this trip, has speed and won his only previous start on the poly.
IPHIMEDIA (7) went down to Tamworth but was never on the track from a wide gate. She beat all but Miss Personality in a stronger race than this two starts back and Kyle Wilson-Taylor
Verdict – MIO SORRENTO (2) racing well in better class than this.

Race 8 – Benchmark 62 Handicap (1600m)
(5) was found out late on turf last start over this trip. She goes better on the poly and with Montana Philpot’s 2kg claim will be hard to pass.
BIRMINGHAM (9) was unsighted at Beaudesert but is much better on the poly and will enjoy this trip. He drops 4kg and Colleen Krahnen will be rounding them up.
DISPUTED RIVER (2) has been freshened and was beaten less than a length at his only poly start over this trip. He hasn’t won for over a year but will get his chance here.
LOYALTY COUNTS (3) didn’t flatter when resuming but has placed at two of three poly outings and will be strong late.
Verdict – FIFER (5) to hold them off.
