Buffering has the right stuff for Dubai challenge

THE comfort of seeing Buffering had travelled in superb order helped ease trainer Rob Heathcote’s frustration out of a luckless day at Doomben on Saturday.

THE luxury of a Dubai getaway and the comfort of seeing Buffering had travelled in superb order helped ease trainer Rob Heathcote’s frustration out of a luckless day at Doomben on Saturday.

“Once again the Doomben curse struck. With luck I could have won three races. Poor old Kaiser Franz seems to cop it every week and it’s similar with Lauterbrunnen,” he said.

“Anyway on the other side of the world all seems to be coming along super with Buffering.

“He seems to have settled in perfectly and his work this morning on the course proper turf up the straight was super. He was bright and alert and hard on the steel.

“It was surreal to see him out on the most amazing racetrack in the world totally on his own at 5.30 on Saturday morning.

“Melanie (Sharpe) said the turf felt amazing underfoot with a beautiful cushion of grass. He is doing super and only six sleeps to go now.”

Buffering is the $6.50 second favourite for Saturday night’s Al Quoz Sprint with UBET.

The favourite is Ertijaal, a six-times winner who has twice triumphed over the Meydan 1000m course this year.

He clocked a slick 56.38sec two starts back before earning a lofty Timeform rating of 124 with his latest two-lengths win at the course.
