Australian Oaks winner Autumn Angel sidelined with tendon injury

Autumn Angel, the brilliant winner of Sydney’s Group 1 Australian Oaks, has been ruled out until at least 2025 due to tendon injury with connections set to decide on her racing future this week.

Trainer Peter Moody revealed on social media his valuable four-year-old would miss the spring carnival after suffering the serious setback that generally sees horses sidelined for at least 12 months.

A decision on Autumn Angel’s racing future will be made by the ownership group on Tuesday night with retirement an option and a potential sale.

Autumn Angel is already a valuable breeding prospect with victories at Group 1, 2 and 3 level.

She delivered Moody and his new co-trainer Katherine Coleman their second of two Group 1s during The Championships when the classy daughter of The Autumn Sun upset boom fillies Orchestral and Zardozi in the Australian Oaks at Royal Randwick.

The filly also won the Group 3 Ethereal Stakes (2000m) and Group 2 Kewney Stakes (1600m) during a terrific three-year-old season.
