Singer Lizzo responds after being slammed for her revealing outfit at an NBA game
Singer Lizzo has hit back at her haters after she was slammed for baring a little too much to NBA fans who came to cheer on the Lakers.
Lizzo was feeling “good as hell” during the Los Angeles Lakers’ recent win over the Minnesota Timberwolves as the singer rocked a loose midi-length dress with the backside cut out, revealing her thong to all while dancing to her hit song “Juice” during the game.
While plenty of Lizzbians — what she calls her fans — showed love to the high-energy diva for the fearless fit, others questioned whether she should’ve rocked such a provocative look courtside, or at all.
After many on social media slammed Lizzo for her choice of attire, the 31-year-old took to Instagram to address her naysayers, explaining the negative reactions of haters will have no bearing on her decisions.
“Who I am, and the essence of me and the things I choose to do as a grown a** woman, can inspire you to do the same,” Lizzo said.
“You don’t have to be like me. You need to be like you. And never ever let somebody stop you or shame you from being yourself.
“This is who I’ve always been. Now everyone’s looking at it, and your criticism can just remain your criticism. Your criticism has no effect on me. Negative criticism has no stake in my life.”
She continued, “I’m the happiest I’ve ever been … I’m surrounded by love, and I just wanna spread that love — and also spread these cheeks. And if you really, really don’t like my a**, you can kiss it.”

The body positivity advocate also took to Twitter to subtly respond to feedback, posting a video of Rihanna twerking in a see-through gown and calling it her “inspiration.”
Many believe this is her way of addressing the double standard she’s held to as someone society has not deemed “sexy enough” to show off her body.

Apart from captivating the crowd with her energetic dance routine, Lizzo also had her eye on Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns — which she made abundantly clear in an interview from her courtside seat.
“Let me tell you something, both teams are great,” Lizzo said when asked who she was cheering for. “I’m personally cheering for 32.”
When asked if she meant Towns, Lizzo replied with “mmhmm”.
“That’s my baby,” she said before admitting that she’s never met the Timberwolves centre.
