Michael Clarke opens up on marriage break-up with Kyly Boldy
Michael Clarke has revealed why he feels so “lucky” after breaking up with ex-wife Kyly as he moves on with fashionista Pip Edwards.
Michael Clarke has opened up about his split with Kyly Boldy, saying the pair remain good friends after ending their seven-year marriage.
The former Australian cricket captain is now dating fashion designer Pip Edwards, the new couple flaunting their relationship on social media during a recent trip to Noosa.
Clarke and Kyly co-parent four-year-old daughter Kelsey Lee and Australia’s fourth-highest Test runscorer spoke about how the family dynamics are working after they announced their break-up in February, months after the couple had privately agreed to separate.
“I think I’m extremely lucky to have been able to go through a separation with the mother of my child and us still be great friends,” Clarke said on KISS 1065’s Kyle and Jackie O Show.
“I actually think Kyly and my friendship now is as strong as it’s ever been. We still talk daily and I think you’ve heard Kyly say as well both of us will always prioritise our daughter and a big part of that is a friendship between mum and dad.”
While Kelsey Lee was in Clarke’s care recently, she asked if she could visit her mum and the cricket legend was happy to drive her to Kyly’s house, where the trio hung out together.
Clarke said that’s the perfect example of how committed he and Kyly are to ensuring their daughter’s best interests always come first.

“It’s probably easier to do when your child’s so young but I would hope that’s mine and Kyly’s relationship forever,” he said. “That our daughter is No. 1, we keep our friendship strong and we do what’s best for her.
“There’s always other people involved. There’s families, there’s friends, if there’s a new person there’s that as well so you’re trying to stay respectful to everyone. It’s easier said than done.”
Clarke added the couple were fortunate news of their split only went public months after they’d decided to part ways, which helped them adjust to their new way of life out of the spotlight.
“We were lucky in a sense that we went through our separation five or six months before it touched the media so that allowed us the time to deal with (it),” Clarke said.
“Like any break-up it’s always tough, so thankfully we were able to do that before it got out to the media.
“There’s a lot worse things in life. We’ve got a great relationship, a beautiful little girl and we move forward.”
Clarke and Edwards, the co-founder of sportswear label P.E. Nation, recently went on holidays together with their children. Edwards’ teenage son Justice Maximus is from a previous relationship with fellow fashion designer Dan Single.
