Erin Molan has opened up about one of the most difficult aspects of breaking up with her fiance, revealing the strain of coping with shared custody of their three-year-old daughter Eliza.

Molan has revealed to 9 Honey it’s been a difficult transition since her and Ogilvy separated.

“Sean loves Eliza more than the world, and so do I,” the NRL presenter said. “It’s certainly an adjustment. You go from being with the most important person in your life 24/7 to then having to share your child and that’s really, really tough.

“But we’re both really blessed in that she is our priority and always will be and whatever is best for her, we do. And that is something I never have to worry about and something he never has to worry about.”

Molan became emotional when speaking about the difficulty of being away from her daughter on the nights she’s with her dad.

“I don’t think I’ll ever get used to not having her with me every night, but I also know she needs to see her dad and it’s hard for him as well,” Molan said. “I know a lot of parents would be able to relate to this, it is really hard.

“But I know wherever she is, with me or with Sean, she is so loved and adored, more than life itself and that’s all I care about.”

Another aspect which has complicated Molan’s situation has been Sydney’s lockdown, making it more difficult for the TV star to distract herself on nights she is not looking after Eliza.

“I have a very, very extensive camera roll on my phone of videos and pictures so at the moment I basically watch videos of her which is probably not healthy,” Molan told 9 Honey.

“As things open up and I can start to do things, a few other mums gave me advice when it first happened that on the nights you don’t have her, you’ve got to go do something, have to go to dinner, have to have a drink, have to do something. You can’t just sit there.

“But Covid has made that a little bit hard. I’m not good at it yet, it’s still very hard but once things open up I think it will be easier.”

Molan also paid tribute to her parents, friends and work colleagues who have helped her deal with the separation.

Molan revealed last month on her breakfast show The Morning Crew with Hughesy, Ed and Erin that she had taken the advice of her co-hosts Dave Hughes and Ed Kavalee to blast break-up songs and cry, calling the experience “cathartic”.
