Brits have gone mad for a public spat between two of England’s most high-profile WAGs. So who are the women at the centre of the scandal?

Brits have gone wild on social media for a public spat between football wives Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy after the former accused the latter of leaking stories to the press.

On Wednesday, Coleen Rooney sent social media into meltdown by claiming she had finally gotten to the bottom of something that had been a “burden in her life for a few years now”.

In a lengthy post, she accused Vardy of leaking stories to The Sun, claiming she had figured it out through a process of elimination.

Rebekah Vardy quickly hit back, denying the claims saying: “Can’t believe I’m even having to write this. I’m pregnant & on holiday & am at a loss to why she would do this. I’m now having to take legal advice as I can’t deal with this stress myself when I’m this pregnant.”

She posted a reply on Instagram.

So who are the woman at the centre of the clash? Here’s what you need do know about them.

COLEEN ROONEY

Coleen, 33, is perhaps best known as the wife of former England captain and Everton and Manchester United star Wayne Rooney. She was born in Liverpool, where her father ran a boxing club and she worked as a magazine columnist for Closer and OK! writing about fashion and style.

The couple are high-school sweethearts and first got together at 16. Coleen has been a regular fixture on the British media scene, with the couple marrying in 2008 and publishing a magazine spread in OK! magazine.

Since then, they have had four children, Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass who are aged between 10 and three.

The couple own a host of multi-million dollar properties around the world and Coleen has run her own campaigns for supermarket brands and children’s products.

Coleen has stuck by her husband despite numerous claims of cheating throughout their relationship.

“I know I would be fine on my own, with just me and my children, but I don’t want to live like that, I want to try and continue our marriage and live as a family, because that’s what I want to do,” she has previously said.

REBEKAH VARDY

Rebekah, 37, is the wife of Leicester footballer and England player Jamie Vardy.

The pair met in 2014 when Rebekah was working as a nightclub promoter and married two years later. They have two children together and Rebekah is currently pregnant with her third.

Rebekah also has two children from a previous relationship, while Jamie has a daughter from a previous relationship.

In 2015 it was revealed their relationship had led to a family rift with Jamie Vardy having not spoken to his family for more than a year. His parents reportedly did not attend their wedding.

Rebekah Vardy regularly appears as a celebrity guest on British television including chat shows like Loose Women and took a turn in the Australian jungle for I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! in 2017.

She has supported Jeans for Genes in the UK and run an online campaign to end “bump shaming”. She has also hit out at trolls who have abused her appearance on social media.

Jamie Vardy and Wayne Rooney are yet to comment on the issue.

Each of the stories provided to The Sun was put to Coleen’s representatives before publication, and on each occasion they declined to comment.
