Cody Simpson, Emma McKeon go public with red carpet debut
Cody Simpson and Emma McKeon looked glamorous as they stepped out onto the red carpet for the first time as a couple.
Cody Simpson stepped out onto the red carpet with his new girlfriend Emma McKeon on the weekend as the pair attended the premiere of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic in Queensland.
Simpson, the pop star turned swimmer who counts Miley Cyrus among his ex-girlfriends, rocked a black T-shirt and blue suit with brown suede boots, while McKeon was decked out in an oversized blazer and white crop top.
The happy couple smiled and posed for cameras at the glamorous event as they showed off their new relationship in full public view.

Simpson and McKeon have been in the headlines recently, after last month’s Australian Swimming Championships. They qualified for Australia’s Commonwealth Games team and will be heading to Birmingham later this year, while McKeon will also be in action at June’s World Championships in Budapest.
Simpson, who only returned to swimming 18 months ago after 10 years out of the pool following a successful career in showbusiness, shared footage of the beautiful moment he was told he would represent Australia for the first time at the Commonwealth Games.
The 25-year-old was sitting next to McKeon in the stands in Adelaide last month when he received a text message informing him of his selection, and he was visibly emotional as McKeon embraced him in a warm hug.
Simpson qualified for the Dolphins squad after his third-placed finish in the men’s 100m butterfly final at the national trials.
“I’m through the roof to be honest. I was holding my breath all day, all week. It’s such a relief to finally have that confirmation and to be going,” Simpson told Amazon Prime Video at the time.
“When I got the text I was sitting there in my seat and I just sunk down and started hugging everyone I saw.
“It hasn’t sunk in yet to be honest. It may not feel real until I’m on the blocks in England. I’m lost for words.
“I’ve already made so many amazing new friends and I’m excited for the new experiences to come. Hopefully this is the first of a few.”
McKeon, the golden girl of the pool at last year’s Tokyo Olympics, was romantically linked to fellow swimmer Kyle Chalmers in September, sparking unfounded rumours the 2016 Rio gold medallist would decide to swim the 100m butterfly in Budapest to keep Simpson out of the World Championships team.
Chalmers slammed those rumours as “pathetic” when asked about the situation on radio last month.
“It’s hugely pathetic. It’s the biggest joke I’ve ever heard to be honest with you,” Chalmers told 2Day FM’s Hughesy, Ed & Erin.
“I started out a butterflyer. I’ve wanted to be a butterflyer my whole career, my body just hasn’t allowed me to.
“For me being able to just swim butterfly is so special and something I’m so proud of … to be able to go back to the event I grew up loving and doing is all the motivation I need.
“Unfortunately I’m the one who has to stand up and apologise and be made out to be the villain when all I’ve done is given everything to my sport and given everything to my country over this last eight-year period I’ve been in the Australian swimming team.”
