AFL great Josh Gibson celebrates birth of first child with Ashley Bright

Three-time AFL premiership player turned reality TV star Josh Gibson shared some exciting news with his Instagram followers this week.

Former Hawthorn defender Josh Gibson is celebrating the birth of his first child with partner Ashley Bright.

The 37-year-old shared the news with his 78,000 Instagram followers on Wednesday evening, uploading a series of images of newborn son Brody Des Gibson.

“September has been very good to me over the years,” he captioned the post.

“On the 6/9/2021 at 2:58pm Brody Des Gibson was born and changed our world forever. (Ashley) you’ve given us the greatest gift of all & words can’t describe how much I love you. If Brody being born on the 6th isn’t a sign, I don’t know what is!”

Gibson wore the No. 6 throughout his stellar AFL career.

Former Hawks teammate Buddy Franklin commented: “Brody congrats brother.”

Footy stars Shaun Burgoyne, David Rodan and Jack Gunston also congratulated the three-time premiership winner, who started his career at North Melbourne before moving to the Hawks, who he represented 160 times between 2010-2017.

Gibson revealed he was expecting his first child with Bright back in March.

“Little Gibbo coming September 2021. Hawks fans will be very happy to know, that scans show a large left,’’ Gibson posted to Instagram at the time.

The pair went public with their new relationship in December, with Bright uploading an image alongside Gibson and their puppy to Instagram.

The Hawthorn great’s tumultuous two-year relationship with mother of two Olga Kononchuk ended in December 2019.

Gibson has made appearances on reality TV since retiring from the AFL. He starred on The Celebrity Apprentice this year on behalf of the My Room Children’s Cancer Charity, and was also a contestant on I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!
