Wrestling continues to be the softcore porn portion of the Olympics

Thousands of men gathered to cheer on this testosterone-fuelled Olympic sport. But not everyone was on the same page with what they were witnessing.

Wrestling continues to be the softcore pornography portion of the Olympic Games and, in Paris, gays from all over the world have mobilised to get up close and personal with the gods of the mat.

“I like the close contact between two manly bodies. And the bulge watching,” said Jerome Benoit, who was enjoying the sights from the bleachers at Tuesday’s Greco Roman 130kg final - an event that involves a combined 260 kilograms of prime, sweaty man meat.

His friend, Rafael Renaudeau, had other interests: “I’m more into ass watching.”

Inside Champ de Mars Arena, there was the sport’s stereotypical crowd: beer-bellied dads in polo shirts. And dotted between them, sitting with excellent posture, were gays from across the globe.

“I love the sweat and the roughness,” said Clement, who was attending the match solo.

“I especially like the par terre.”

He was referencing the manoeuvre that involves one wrestler getting down on hands and knees while an opponent mounts him from behind.

Between rounds, as the hulking men got more worked up, arena organisers began playing the Childish Gambino song “Redbone” over the sound system - a slinky slow jam that belongs on a sexy bedroom playlist.

It got the fellas in the mood. The ref blew his whistle and the boys slammed their bodies together, slipping and sliding.

Push. Shove. … Groan.

Eight thousand fans cheered and stomped their feet, most of them seemingly unaware they were essentially encouraging two gruff men to scissor each other with their big beefy thighs.

“When I sat down, I thought, there’s a lot of testosterone in this hall,” said Kevin Faaborg, 48, who travelled from the US with his boyfriend Chikara. “This was the most intensely emotional Olympic experience I’ve had.”

Chikara was responsible for choosing the event.

“We came from diving earlier today and the audience vibe was very different,” he said. “At the wrestling, it’s very testosterone driven. Former Soviet republics and far east Asia make up most of the audience … more straight.”

And do these straights realise what exactly they’re cheering on?

“There’s some blatant homo-erotica here,” said Maka Sun, 38, who travelled from Hawaii with his boyfriend to watch Japan’s Kenichiro Fumita claim gold in the men’s 60kg Greco-Roman wrestling.

“I think (the heterosexual men) are enjoying it secretly. I think there’s definitely some pent up feelings.”

Two people who weren’t quite enjoying the action were French boyfriends Willy Favreau and Pascal Barreos.

“We don’t know the rules,” Willy shrugged. “It’s not very interesting. I saw online some gay wrestling and it’s very exciting, but it’s not exactly the same here.”

The flight attendant had some notes for the Olympic wrestling officials.

“We’d prefer to see more positions,” he suggested. “We can see more on the internet. On the internet they have sexier positions, like on all-fours and with the face between legs - and that’s not exactly the case here.”

In the men’s 130kg final, Cuba’s Mijain Lopez Nunez beat Chilean opponent Yasmani Acosta Fernandez, winning his fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal.

The crowd cheered the man-on-man smooshing that had played out.

“You have just witnessed history!” The announcer screamed into the microphone.

Um … yeah. That’s what we just witnessed.
