Anthony Seibold lodges formal complaint with police over vile social media rumours

Former Broncos coach Anthony Seibold has lodged an official complaint with police in an attempt to bring charges upon the people responsible for spreading vile rumours about him.

Former Broncos coach Anthony Seibold has lodged an official complaint with police in an attempt to bring charges upon the people responsible for spreading vile rumours about him.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported Seibold made the distasteful social media smear campaign a police matter on Monday in a bid to publicly name and shame the culprit.

The police were presented with a report that was put together by Seibold employed cybercrime experts and was also handed to the NRL’s integrity unit.

Police are expected to interview Seibold as part of their inquiries.

The report is said to include three people of interest in connection with the rumours that are linked to three social media accounts.

One person was not identified, while another is linked to high-profile rugby league identities.

The NRL Integrity Unit are unable to investigate the matter while a police investigation is ongoing and will await the results before taking their own course of action.

The NRL has the power to act if it is proven that registered participants were the source of, or disseminated, the scandalous material.

If the matter ends up before the courts, the names of the people involved would become public.

That would depend on the quality of the information the cybercrime experts collected and the accompanying police investigation.
