Internet sleuths appear to have spotted a detail Aussie golden couple Mary Fowler and Nathan Cleary were trying to keep secret.

Internet sleuths appear to have spotted Mary Fowler on Nathan Cleary’s Instagram page for the first time.

Australian sport’s golden couple have tried desperately to keep their romance out of the public eye, but sightings of the pair together have continued to get tongues wagging.

The pair melted hearts with an airport reunion kiss after Fowler returned home in time for Christmas last month.

Despite this, the pair have been hesitant to share images of their relationship with fans.

That appears to have changed with internet sleuths spotting Cleary lying into a pair of legs which many fans on social media claim belong to Fowler.

Fuel was poured on the burning rumour when fans spotted another photo Cleary shared which showed him raising a mug alongside another person who happens to have a cross tattoo.

The tattoo, at the base of the person’s thumb, is the exact same tattoo Fowler has sported on her left hand for some time.

Cleary captioned the series of photos: “Grateful”.

The pair were most recently spotted enjoying a post-Christmas dinner surrounded by friends on the Gold Coast.

Matildas superstar Mary Fowler spent her Christmas with family in Cairns while Nathan Cleary remained home in Sydney.

Fowler showed off her adventures in the tropical north of Australia in a series of uploads to her Instagram account on Christmas Eve.

The pair reunited days after the festive holiday and were spotted enjoying a date alongside friends at Gold Coast dinner spot Burleigh Pavilion.

A photo posted to social media showed the loved up couple sitting next to one another.

The Gold Coast date comes after the pair melted hearts with their airport reunion after Fowler returned home in time for Christmas.

Cleary, 26, was seen with a huge smile as he picked the 21-year-old Matildas star up at the arrivals gate after she touched down on an Emirates flight from Dubai.

It was the first time the pair had seen each other since November 2 when Cleary farewelled Fowler at Perth Airport after watching her score a goal in Australia’s 3-0 win over Chinese Taipei the previous night.

Their relationship was confirmed just one day earlier when they were pictured cuddling together in a Perth park.

The couple made the most of their time together as they were spotted mucking around at an oval near Cleary’s Penrith home.

Rumours of a relationship between the pair first kicked off in July, when Fowler was spotted out and about enjoying an ice cream with Cleary in Penrith.

The pair are believed to have met a promotional event for Adidas, which sponsors both athletes.

Cleary expressed his annoyance at the heavy interest into his personal life earlier this year.

“It is what is, it’s a little bit annoying to not have a private life but I like to not talk about it too much and keep anything I can private,” he said in September.

“Things take off pretty quick with social media but I’ll try to keep a private life if I can.”

The pair may soon have another chance to reunite amid their busy schedules with Cleary’s Panthers set to take on Wigan in the World Club Challenge on February 25 – just a few kilometres from Fowler’s training base in Manchester.

Cleary’s Panthers returned to training this week after their Christmas break.
