Nathan Cleary and Mary Fowler have reunited in time for Christmas with Australia’s newest sporting power couple pictured sharing a kiss at Sydney Airport on Tuesday night.
Cleary, 26, was seen with a huge smile as he picked the 21-year-old Matildas star up at the arrivals gate after she touched down on an Emirates flight from Dubai.

Cleary wore black shorts and a brown T-shirt for the airport pickup, while Fowler wore light blue jeans, a button-up shirt and a black hat for her flight.
It was the first time the pair had seen each other since November 2 when Cleary farewelled Fowler at Perth Airport after watching her score a goal in Australia’s 3-0 win over Chinese Taipei the previous night.
Their relationship was confirmed just one day earlier when they were pictured cuddling together in a Perth park.
However they’ve since had to endure a long stretch apart as Fowler flew back to the UK to play for Manchester City while Cleary jetted out of Australia to enjoy an off-season trip to the United States.
In recent weeks the superstar halfback has returned to pre-season training in Penrith as the dominant Panthers set their sights on an NRL premiership four-peat.
It is unclear how long Fowler will be able to remain in Australia for as her Manchester City team is next scheduled to play on January 15 in an FA Women’s Cup match against Durham.
The football star was due to appear at a promotional event for the Matildas at Sydney’s CommBank Stadium on Thursday alongside teammates Mackenzie Arnold and Alanna Kennedy, however organisers have since announced she is no longer able to attend.
“We are sorry to inform you that Mary Fowler is no longer able to attend the event at CommBank Stadium on Thursday 21 December,” a statement read.
“We are excited to announce that superstar forward, Caitlin Foord, will be joining Mackenzie Arnold and Alanna Kennedy on the field for a show-stopping event, including a live masterclass and an insight into their personal and professional lives.”
It is understood that Fowler will however make a media appearance in Sydney on Thursday to promote the Matildas’ upcoming two-match series against Uzbekistan in the AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifiers.
Earlier in December Cleary was asked about Fowler at the GQ Awards in Sydney as he picked up the sportsman of the year award.
The NSW and Kangaroos halfback looked lost in the headlights when asked about his blossoming romance by Confidential’s Jonathon Moran.
When asked why he was flying solo, Cleary replied: “I’m just here by myself. No plus-one”.
When asked where Fowler was, the 26-year-old broke out into a giggle and looked to be more than a bit flustered.
“I knew this was coming,” he said with a grin.
“She’s busy.”
Rocking an all-black suit and shirt combination, Cleary held his own surrounded by the ritzy ensembles worn by others gracing the red carpet.
“I’m very grateful to be here. I’m a bit nervous actually. I’ve never really done anything like this,” he said.
“No sneakers. It’s a bit different for me, but I don’t mind dressing up every now and then.”
He has also admitted to being uneasy about the interest in his personal life.
“I haven’t had too many people look into my personal life. But it’s just what comes with it. It’s something that I can’t control,” he said.
“I just got to keep moving on and not read into it too much.”
Rumours of a relationship between the pair first kicked off in July, when Fowler was spotted out and about enjoying an ice cream with Cleary in Penrith.
The pair are believed to have met a promotional event for Adidas, which sponsors both athletes.
Cleary expressed his annoyance at the heavy interest into his personal life earlier this year.
“It is what is, it’s a little bit annoying to not have a private life but I like to not talk about it too much and keep anything I can private,” he said in September.
“Things take off pretty quick with social media but I’ll try to keep a private life if I can.”
The pair may soon have another chance to reunite amid their busy schedules with Cleary’s Panthers set to take on Wigan in the World Club Challenge on February 25 - just a few kilometres from Fowler’s training base in Manchester.
