Erin Molan’s days as an NRL anchor for Channel 9 have ended, according to reports.

The Australian’s Media Diary reported that Molan has signed a downsized and less lucrative contract. In the new role, she will present the sport during the 6pm news on Friday and Saturday nights.

“Diary hears the revision to Molan’s contract has nothing to do with her alleged issues with rugby league Immortal and fellow commentator Andrew Johns, amid persistent speculation the pair actively avoid each other both on- and off-camera at Nine,” Nick Tabakoff wrote.

“Instead, we’re assured Molan’s new deal is a reflection of a crazy work schedule between her two employers, Nine and Southern Cross Austereo, under her previous contract.”

There had been persistent rumours that Molan and Johns did not get along.

Molan had been juggling the Sunday NRL coverage with her day job as a co-host for the 2DayFM breakfast show.

She will continue in radio in addition to the new role with Nine.

It was revealed just last week, that she was approached about a tilt at federal politics.

Molan said she was now a working single mum with a three-and-a-half-year-old daughter after splitting from her partner, homicide Detective Sean Ogilvy, and her work at the moment was already pretty taxing.

“My biggest thing in life is I never want to look back and regret not spending the time with my daughter that she deserves and now my situation is changed a bit,” she said.

“I’m very honoured to have been asked, I’m flattered to have been considered, but the timing for me right now is not right, but down the track hopefully.”
