Erin Molan expands on tough week

THE estranged wife of Sydney businessman has addressed the “perceived conflict” between herself and The Footy Show host Erin Molan.

Emotional Erin Molan refutes Kelly Landry' allegations

KELLY Landry, the estranged wife of Sydney businessman Anthony Bell, has addressed the “perceived conflict” between herself and The Footy Show host Erin Molan.

On Friday, following a week of media scrutiny surrounding her very public request for a final apprehended violence order against her husband, Landry released a statement.

She spoke specifically about speculation “something was going on between Molan and the “accountant to the stars”.

“I have respect for Erin Molan personally and professionally,” Landry said.

“This week, questions were put to me by Ian Temby SC as part of his client’s defence which I answered.

“It is disappointing that so much focus is on perceived conflict between Erin and me rather than the serious issues that were prosecuted by the police and which are yet to be determined by the Court.”

Earlier, Molan addressed her link to the A-list divorce. She choked back tears as she delivered an emotional message after a stressful week of being dragged into the ongoing case.

She made a brief statement on The Footy Show on Thursday to strongly deny an accusation that anything inappropriate had taken place between herself and Bell.

Molan has also had to deal with trolling from some people on social media accusing her of double standards for comments she has made surrounding NRL scandals that have gone before the courts.

Molan on Friday made a weekly appearance on Sydney’s WSFM Breakfast Show with Jonesy and Amanda and her comments suggest she is fed up with the online criticism.

Molan told hosts Brendan Jones and Amanda Keller she has had enough of being involved in scandals this week.

Amanda Keller: Erin Molan, you are a class act

Erin Molan: Thank you very much.

AK: I know you’ve had a tough week. Being on the front page of the paper in circumstances that you wouldn’t want and being dragged into somebody else’s divorce with no evidence of anything and you spoke so eloquently last night on The Footy Show saying, ‘Thanks to my supporters, can we just let it go’.

EM: Thank you. I appreciate that. It’s been a pretty awful week.

AK: You’ve come out with your head held high.

Brendan Jones: Hell of a week.

EM: Thank you very much.

The conversation then turned towards some public criticism the breakfast duo have received for comments Keller made about One Direction star Niall Horan.

Molan’s comments about the situation show she is sick of social media trolls.

AK: People from all over the world have written complaints about us.

EM: I now don’t want to be included in this. I’ve had enough this week.

AK: Someone said that I made them ashamed to be a white Australian.

EM: Oh, my god. They’ve brought race into a comment about One Direction. That doesn’t even shock me anymore and it probably should. I’ve got some perspective now.

Molan admitted on The Footy Show it has been a tough week for her. “I’m really sorry we have to use this platform to say a few things but we probably don’t have a choice,” she said.

“I’m going to try and get through this without getting emotional.
“It’s obviously been a very tough week for myself, my fiance and my family.

“We’re very devastated to be dragged into what is a very sad situation, particularly given the insinuation of an inappropriate relationship.

“I can assure you there is not one iota of truth to any of the speculation. It’s not who I am and it doesn’t reflect the values I possess and it is not how I was raised.

“I just want to thank everyone who sent me messages of support and for people who supported me both publicly and privately. It has meant the absolute world to me and to Shaun — it’s really helped in what has been a very difficult week.

“I don’t mean to be self indulgent because there are many people out there fighting very tough battles that are far more serious than mine. Thank you for your support.”
Molan received a round of applause from the crowd before Paul “Fatty” Vautin proclaimed his co-host was “like a daughter”.

“She’s an outstanding human being and I wish everyone would leave her alone. She deserves some respect,” Vautin said.

Landry has now conceded there was no affair between Erin Molan and her husband.

Landry, 37, is seeking a final AVO against her husband after an interim order was granted earlier this year.

Molan responded to the text messages by saying it was “so unfair” that she has been suspected of having an affair with the “accountant to the stars”.

Molan’s claim that the link is “unfair” attracted an incredulous response from some fans, who have drawn a line between Molan’s complaints and previous comments the 34-year-old has made about public scandals surrounding NRL stars.

Former NRL star and Footy Show host Beau Ryan leapt to the defence of his co-star, slamming the “bulls***” accusations.

“I’m fully supportive of her as a colleague and more importantly, as a friend,” Ryan said before claiming he spoke to Molan every day since the scandal unfolded.

Molan and Bell were crew mates in the 2016 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, and the court previously heard Landry sent her husband a text message on December 28, the day of their record-breaking win, saying” I know about Erin. Just saw her run to you.”

By the end of the day their marriage was over and in early January police applied for the AVO on Landry’s behalf after she went to them for advice.

The four-day AVO hearing finished on Thursday, with magistrate Robert Williams reserving his decision on the application until May 16.
