Report: Cody Simpson part of Australia’s new power couple
Superstar Cody Simpson is reportedly dating one of Australia’s greatest athletes of all time in a romance that was kept secret.
Superstar Cody Simpson is reportedly dating Aussie Olympic champion swimmer Emma McKeon.
As first reported by The Daily Telegraph, the pop star-turned swimmer has been seeing McKeon in private with the pair trying to keep their relationship out of the public eye.
They have shared no photos together on social media. However, Simpson’s family, including sister Alli and his parents now follow McKeon on Instagram.
The News Corp report details the pair have recently moved in together and have been spotted out in public together on the Gold Coast where they have been training together ahead of the Australian Swimming Championships next week.

Simpson’s romances have famously played out in public recently following his split with pop star Miley Cyrus in 2020.
He said last month his relationship with Cyrus ended because of his decision to “blow up” his life in order to focus on his new swimming career.
After 10 years out of the pool where he became an internationally-famous music artist, Simpson last year made a huge splash in his bid to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.
However, it is private life that has largely kept the 25-year-old in the headlines.
The ex-boyfriend of Gigi Hadid shocked the world to qualify for the finals of the 100m butterfly event at the Australian Olympic Swimming Trials in Adelaide in June, but finished last in the final, a cruel reminder of the huge mountain he was trying to climb after returning to the sport.
Simpson has said all along he has been aiming for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
His rise to the top of the sport may come even sooner if he is able to qualify for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham at next week’s trials.
He has entered into three events and his best hope will be in the 100m butterfly.
In a strange coincidence, Aussie “superfish” Kyle Chalmers has also entered the event, despite having never won an Olympic or Commonwealth Games medal in butterfly.
Chalmers, who famously won gold at the Rio 2016 Olympics and finished with silver in the men’s 100m freestyle in Tokyo, was revealed to be dating McKeon in September.
Now he will be swimming against Simpson to qualify for one of the two spots Australia has to enter in the event for Birmingham.
Simpson said last month it was difficult to have two loves in his life while he is so focused on swimming.
He told The Sunday Telegraph chasing his swimming comeback meant making “compromises and sacrifices”.
“It’s something that not everyone gets, and that was part of the reason I had to end my past two previous relationships,” he said.
“The first one with Miley [Cyrus], I’d just started training towards the end of our relationship and it put me on a path where I realised I was going to go back to Australia if I was going to do it properly,” he said.
“I saw all these realisations that maybe it’s time to turn the page in a chapter. And with my recent ex [model Marloes Stevens], it was one of those things, too, where it can be difficult to maintain a personal relationship when you just don’t have time, and any time you’re not training, you just want to be in bed asleep.”
McKeon meanwhile, is expected to dominate in the Birmingham pool when the Games begin in July after her historic, record-shattering performance in Tokyo where she became Australia’s most decorated Olympian of all time.
She returned from Japan with a seven-medal haul that included four golds — giving her 11 Olympic medals overall.
The 27-year-old’s dominant 50m freestyle performance saw her surpass Ian Thorpe and Leisel Jones’ record for the most medals held by an Australian Olympian, with nine each.
