Ten second clip is most Aussie thing ever, blokes in bar going viral

A brief clip of a group of Australian men is going viral after a change of camera angle revealed one of the most Aussie things ever.

Blokes watching Bluey in a bar going viral

Just four blokes sitting back at the pub on a Saturday night with the cricket on the tele.

It’s not the most exciting scene, but a 10 second clip of the gentlemen is going viral after they were seen watching the wildly popular ‘Cricket’ episode of ABC family show juggernaut Bluey.

The latest episode of the worldwide phenomenon features the Heeler Family — mum Chilli, dad Bandit, sister Bingo and the titular Bluey — roped into a game of backyard cricket.

The story features Bandit recounting a story of a cricket game at a kid’s birthday party when red kelpie Rusty gets to the crease.

As the adults try to get him out, Rusty smacks them all over the park, while explaining how the youngster developed his skills.

Bluey is a minor player in the episode, saying: “Cricket’s just about hitting a ball around the grass,” before her dad says: “Cricket’s about more than that, kid.”

While not necessarily sounding like a tear-jerking combination, the twist at the end has left many feeling plenty of emotions.

This brings us back to the blokes in a bar choosing to watch Rusty spank them to all corners of the oval rather than the Aussie Test cricket team which is smack in the middle of an enthralling First Ashes Test battle against England.

The individuals in the clip are seen drinking in the wholesome Bluey tale while enjoying a cold drink at what appears to be the Sunbury United Sporting Club in Victoria — and their casual, unashamed love for the hit Aussie show appears to be one of the reasons they are going viral.

One video of the scene has been watched more than 300,000 times on TikTok and has received more than 30,000 likes.

It is just one more example of why you’re risking life and limb if you ever think of referring to the program as a “kids’ show”.

The latest episode has also captivated audiences around the globe — including a horde of confused Americans.

The seven minutes of cartoon magic has united Australia and shows that after three seasons and 151 episodes the show is still finding new ways to melt hearts.

Grown men were left wiping tears away when the episode was released last week — and they would be considered robots if there wasn’t at least some moisture forming in the corner of their eyes.

Released in conjunction with the launch of the Ashes series and on day five of the World Test Championship Final, Bluey’s Cricket episode was the top rated non-news show of Sunday with 563,000 viewers, beating Australia wrapping up its latest world title, which peaked with 524,000 metro viewers.

Speaking on The Grandstand Cricket Podcast, 18-Test former Aussie batter Ed Cowan admitted it hit him in the feels.

“Honestly, I was bawling my eyes out,” he said.

“So Romy is ten and a half — she’s too old for Bluey, still loves it.

“If you’re a cricket fan, I don’t care how old you are, you have to watch this episode. And if you don’t have a tear in your eye at the end of the episode, I don’t even know if you’re human.

“And then it got me thinking, why wouldn’t Cricket Australia, if you want the hearts and minds of the kids, Bluey’s the biggest cartoon in the world. It’s massive in the States, you should be pushing cricket.

“These are the mediums if you’re thinking about making money and licensing deals, Bluey’s just handed it to you on a plate.”

Bluey was named the most streamed acquired series and sixth overall in the US in the week of April 9 with 737 million minutes watched, which, is well over 100 million streams on Disney+.

If you haven’t seen the Cricket episode or are new to Bluey, Australians can watch for free on ABC iview.

Bluey has dealt with sport in the past, with the Queensland-based family revealed to be keen Maroons fans in The Decider episode, where the family watch a State of Origin match.
